March 25, 2022 dance with Jim Hattrick calling and Jackie Gale cueing

Although we never had more than two squares on the floor, with several couples and singles having to sit out each tip, it was a really nice group of dancers who showed up to dance to Jim and Jackie.    It was nice also for those who felt comfortable to able to dance without masks for the first time since last summer.

We had a full square of dancers come from out of town.  Several were from the Salem Swingin' Stars including Loyce and Wendell, Bob and Ronda.  Others came from Corvallis and Lebanon.  All were good dancers and happy to join us.  We were delighted to see them.

We also were delighted to see our cuer back as well as her husband Bill who had heart surgery last year so stayed away from dancing in squares but did all the rounds  Jackie always chooses great music as does Hattrick.

We hope to see more people out at our next dance April 22 which will be called by Scott Zinser and cued by Jackie Gale.  I will be sad to miss that dance but will be enjoying the sights and sounds and cuisine of northern France and Paris.

Here are some photos I took of the squares:

It was a small but enthusiastic group of dancers who gathered Friday, Mar. 11 to dance to K.C. Curtis's calling and Neil Koozer's cueing.  We had two squares of dancers on the floor with a few to spare, but it was a bit slow building up to two.  We were all hoping for more, but there are still quite a few dancers woo do not want to take the chance and also some dancers just don't want to dance with masks on.  Of course now that the mask mandate is over and it is optional to wear them in any setting except of course medical and dental settings, we can expect a few more to show up.  Also we know that two more clubs in our area will start dancing in April and perhaps another.   One of these clubs is now offering lessons on Saturdays starting March 19 at 4:30 at the Emerald Square Dance Center.  So with ann opportuity to brush upwe should see more dancers come out.

We had the opportunity to sing happy birthday to one of our Single Trees members, Judy Melendrez.  Wish we had had a cake for her but at our next dance March 25 with Jim Hattrick and Jackie Gale we can offer snacks and something to drink like tea or coffee.

We did decide to unmask halfway through the dance since the mandate was to be lifted at midnight.  Many of us breathed a sigh of relief but some did remain masks for various reasons.

But we did have a great night of dancing to K.C.'s wonderful baritone voice and good choice of music.  Neil as always did a wonderful job o fcueing, keeping oru round dancers happy.

Here are some photos of some of our squares.
